2015.01.26

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADuring the Year end and New Year’s holiday season, usually we’ve had too much heavy foods. So we have rice porridge made with seven kinds of spring herbs to rest our stomach on January 7. And to wish a perfect state of health for the year. The Festival of Seven Herbs is the long-standing Japanese custom.

A dish made with seven herbs (the seven herbs of spring), which are seri (Japanese parsley), nazuna (shepherd’s purse), gogyo (cotton weed), hakobe (common chickweed), hotoke no za (lamium amplexicaule), suzuna (turnip) and suzushiro (daikon radish), that are boiled, chopped and mixed into a rice porridge.

Here’s wishing you good health throughout the year!
